On 19-20 October 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan, Innovations Center as part of State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan was represented at the workshop on “Experience of Kazakhstan in Development of Public Services: innovative approaches, challenges and solutions” [Astana dialogue]. This workshop has been jointly organized by the NJSC “State-owned corporation «Government for citizens»” and UNDP Civil Service Hub.
The main objective of the workshop was to bring together public officials and experts from the countries of the region to exchange insights in the provision of public services and establish dialogue for exchanging best practices in the field.
Director of Innovations Center, Mr. Kamran Agasi, shared “ASAN Service” experience as a successful Azerbaijani brand within the scope of his participation in the Astana dialogue. He moderated the panel session on “Dialogue: Shifting public services to the next level – Placing citizens at the center” with participation of speakers from Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, and Estonia. Public service delivery process, current trends in the coordination of services, reduction of administrative burdens, outsourcing, best practices, as well as application of modern technologies were discussed among the panelists followed by the Q&A session.
During the session, Mr. Agasi signified the importance of citizen engagement and development of citizen-centric channels for proactive communication in the public service delivery process with the specific reference to “ASAN service” case in Azerbaijan.
This workshop was a valuable opportunity in terms of exchanging best practices among the participating countries and contributing to constructive international dialogue on modernisation of public services.
